A Jacksonville jury has convicted 21-year-old Calvin Mapson of manslaughter in connection with a January 17, 2025, parking-lot shooting that killed 40-year-old Trey Carter outside the Circle K on Sunbeam Road. Carter had been at the store following a birthday celebration. Mapson now faces up to 30 years in state prison when sentenced.
Prosecutors’ account
According to the State Attorney’s Office, jurors found Mapson guilty of Manslaughter with a Firearm and of Possession of a Firearm by a Juvenile Delinquent found to have committed a felony act. Prosecutors say he now faces a maximum of 30 years in Florida state prison.
