The Steel Yard, which announced in January that it is facing significant financial challenges, is having employees go on furlough during alternating weeks as the organization grapples with its precarious financial position.
The organization will still continue to hold programs that are financially viable while it reassesses.
“Since our initial message outlining the structural financial issues facing The Steel Yard, we have heard from many of you with expressions of support, frustration, and concern,” interim executive director Drake Patten wrote in a Feb. 11 message to community members. “In every conversation, we have heard that The Steel Yard is too important to our community to go away.”…
