Cause determined for fire that burned barn in front of Homeplace Restaurant

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) – Fire crews have extinguished a fire at a barn outside the Homeplace Restaurant in Catawba, according to a WDBJ7 crew.

The fire was reported late Thursday morning and was under control in about 20 minutes, according to Roanoke County Fire and Rescue.

“The fire at this address was accidental and was contained to the barn,” according to the Fire Marshal’s Office. “It was caused by the use a torch to discolor wood within the barn. No injuries or fatalities were reported. The overall damage estimates are $150,000.”…
