Lubbock’s 19th Street Loses Yet Another Business With Pizza Hut Closure

It hasn’t been easy to be a business on 19th Street between i27 and University for (checks notes) years now. And while it is finally substantially complete now, that type of hit to any business- even one backed by a massive corporate infrastructure- is hard to recover from. And many businesses called it quits or barely survived during those years.

It is possible that the loss of this Pizza Hut was part of a larger culling of underperforming locations. According to USA Today, 250 “underperforming” locations are to be closed in response to a loss in the final quarter of 2025- a time which saw significant growth in other brands like Taco Bell. And it’s easy to “underperform” when people have difficulty getting into your parking lot for 3+ years.

That area also lost a Taco Villa, which has been expanding with new locations in other parts of town, proving it’s not a brand problem, but that the location was toxic…..
