It’s the state’s cleanest secret
Lake Ouachita (say it WAH-shi-tah) spreads across more than 40,000 acres of water in the Ouachita Mountains of west-central Arkansas. It stretches about 30 miles across Garland and Montgomery counties, making it the largest lake entirely within the state.
More than 690 miles of shoreline wrap around it, and no homes line the banks. The whole thing sits just 13 miles from Hot Springs.
The water is some of the cleanest in the country, and what lives in it might surprise you.
