PLATTSMOUTH, Neb. — An Omaha firefighter diagnosed with terminal brain cancer is supporting legislation that could help other firefighters receive workers’ compensation benefits for cancer diagnoses.
Matt McDonnell, 40, was diagnosed with glioblastoma in June after showing sudden signs of confusion. The father of four has served with Omaha Fire for 18 years, recently working as a station cook. The first half of his career he served at the station on 61st and Ames.
