Groundswell in St. Paul closed last spring following a fire that caused extensive damage to the cafe, as well as the apartments above the shop.
Now, the cafe that opened in 2009 has announced that it will not reopen.
“Friends, we have some hard news,” reads an announcement from Groundswell. “Financially, we just cannot make it work. We have loved being a part of your special and ordinary moments over the last 16 years. It has been an honor and a joy.”
While the cafe at 1340 Thomas Ave. W. in St. Paul’s Midway neighborhood isn’t currently open, it has invited community members to stop by one last time. The shop will be handing out free vegan banana bread outside the cafe from 8 to 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 13…
