Former Blaine school teacher pleads guilty to filming inappropriate video of a student

A former teacher at Jefferson Elementary School in Blaine has pleaded guilty to multiple charges after he reportedly filmed an inappropriate video of a third-grade student.

Jason Bassett pleaded guilty to five counts of interfering with the privacy of a minor on Wednesday. Court records show that Bassett, in exchange for his plea, will serve 30 days in jail. Upon release, Bassett will have a four-year stayed sentence of 334 days in jail.

Bassett was arrested in June 2025 after his ex-wife contacted law enforcement. According to his ex-wife, Bassett accidentally sent a video to his daughters that showed him filming under the dress of a third-grade student…
