Man who dug hole under Murray Trax line arrested

MURRAY, Utah (ABC4) — A man who dug a hole under the overpass at a Trax line in Murray has been arrested and booked into jail for criminal mischief, months after he was charged for digging a tunnel under I-15.

According to a police booking affidavit, Troy Jones, 45, is booked for recklessly interrupting infrastructure, a second degree felony offence and criminal trespassing with an intent to annoy/injure someone, damage property, commit a non-felony/non-theft crime, or cause fear for safety.

This comes after Murray Police Department officers found the hole under the overpass earlier Tuesday morning. Officials say Jones was trespassed from this location earlier and recently received a citation for illegally camping at this location on Monday.

Jones is already charged with a second-degree felony for criminal mischief that recklessly interrupted or impaired infrastructure after he dug a tunnel under I-15 in September 2025…
