Boston leaders considering immigrant emergency response fund

Ongoing immigration operations are spurring conversation at Boston City Hall.

City councilors are weighing an immigrant emergency response fund intended to add onto existing city, state and private efforts by providing rapid legal services, family stabilization and emergency assistance.

“We see that happening right now, already, in philanthropy,” said At-Large Boston City Councilor Ruthzee Louijuene. “United Way, the Boston Foundation, so many are stepping up in this moment, and so we are trying to build more cohesion and more collaboration so that we can partner more seamlessly and be prepared for the current moment.”…
