Dog struggling to swim in canal rescued by Manatee County deputies

MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA)— A dog struggling to swim in a canal was rescued with the help of two law enforcement officers with the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Lt. Dwyer and Deputy Hart boarded kayaks on Sunday to rescue the scared dog who was struggling to swim in a canal around Bryn Mawr Island in Bayshore Gardens, MCSO said.

Indica, the dog, cut her paws and body trying to climb up the oyster-covered walls, so Animal Services responded to make sure she got the care she needed.

“We’re happy to share that Indica was reunited with her owner that day and is expected to make a full recovery,” the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said…
