Deer rescued by Lancaster County crews after getting stuck on frozen reservoir

LANCASTER COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A deer found itself walking on thin ice Thursday morning when it ventured onto a frozen reservoir in Lancaster County.

It was just before 10:30 a.m. when crews were notified about a deer on the ice at the Octoraro Lakes Reservoir in Colerain Township, Quarryville Fire Company wrote in a Facebook post.

Robert Fulton Fire Company was also sent to the scene to assist with the rescue.

A team with a raft made its way to the deer, got it off the ice and brought it to shore, the fire company wrote. The deer was then left with the Pennsylvania Game Commission.

“Just another day in Southern Lancaster County,” Quarryville Fire Company wrote.
