Publix has been the top grocery store for decades— and many Floridians remain loyal — but newcomer Aldi is gaining ground fast and is opening new stores in our readership area.
A spokesperson at Aldi has reached out to the Daily Commercial to discuss the chain’s growth in the Lake-Sumter area: “Our store in Eustis, located at 17395 U.S. 441, opened in 2017 and has provided the community with an affordable option for groceries for nearly a decade. We are happy to share that we are making headway on our second store in Eustis at 1955 N State Road 19, along with two other developments in Oviedo and Lady Lake. All three stores are expected to open by the end of summer.”
The new Eustis Aldi will offer shopping closer to Umatilla and Grand Island residents in the northern part of the city. The store will be about its usual size, approximately 22,805 square feet. The store replaces a 48,455 square-foot Winn-Dixie, which is being divided, separated by a new demising wall for other purposes…
