Syracuse officers rescue small injured owl from a home’s backyard

A tiny backyard visitor turned into a rescue mission this week when Syracuse police officers responded to help an injured owl.

On Wednesday, Syracuse Police Animal Cruelty officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Upland Road in Syracuse, according to Kieran Coffey, a spokesperson for the Syracuse Police Department. Residents had reported finding an injured Eastern screech-owl in a backyard.

Officers carefully secured the bird and transported it to a private wildlife rehabber to heal from its injuries.
