SAN MARCOS, Tex. (KXAN) — Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra announced his plan to call for a moratorium on high-volume industrial water usage during a press conference planned for February 16 at Spring Lake in San Marcos, according to a press release.
“To safeguard our collective future, I urge that we suspend the permitting of high-impact industrial operations that threaten our remaining reserves,” Becerra said in a statement from last week. “Our stewardship of water the very lifeblood of our community cannot be reactive. It must be a proactive vow to protect what we cannot live without.”
