La Focaccia owner changes course on closure, says he’s no longer retiring

In a twist worthy of a giallo thriller, the owner of Southtown’s La Focaccia Italian Grill hasn’t permanently shuttered his 30-year-old restaurant after all.

In a Facebook post shared roughly a week after the Jan. 31 closure of his eatery, owner Luigi “Domenic” Ciccarelli announced that what he’d first described as a permanent exit for his retirement was, in fact, just a short break.

“We recently paused operations while exploring the sale of the restaurant and, although that transaction did not move forward one thing became clear: this restaurant is home, both to us and to so many of you,” the post said. “We are excited to continue the tradition and welcome you back.”…
