SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — A Senate committee plans to recommend changes in the state’s nest predator bounty program
The program started in 2019 and offers a $10 bounty for certain animals classified as predators. The program, according to supporters and GFP officials, was designed to help improve conditions for nesting birds such as pheasants and encourage youth to get involved in trapping and the outdoors.
The Senate Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee Thursday rejected Senate Bill 148 that would have eliminated the program in a 7-0 vote to send it to the 41st Day.
