Patriots Star Stefon Diggs Arraigned on Strangulation Charges
New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs appeared in court Friday morning to face charges of strangulation and misdemeanor assault, stemming from an alleged incident in December 2025 involving a private chef.
Diggs, who remained silent during the proceedings, had a not guilty plea entered on his behalf by his attorney. The judge ordered his release on his own recognizance and issued a no-contact order with the alleged victim, Mila Adams, including any third-party contact.
Police records obtained by ABC News indicate the charges originated from a dispute over unpaid wages Adams was seeking from Diggs. According to the police report, Diggs is accused of strangling or suffocating Adams on December 2.
Adams told police that Diggs allegedly entered her unlocked bedroom, where an argument ensued regarding the unpaid wages. She claims Diggs became angry and struck her across the face.
When she attempted to push him away, he allegedly choked her using the crook of his elbow around her neck, tightening his grip as she tried to free herself. The report further states he then threw her onto the bed.
Adams also alleges that when she brought up the outstanding payment, Diggs dismissed her claims as “lies.”
In a statement released in December, Diggs’ attorney, David Meier, firmly denied the allegations. “Stefon Diggs categorically denies these allegations.
They are unsubstantiated, uncorroborated, and were never investigated – because they did not occur,” Meier stated. “The timing and motivation for making the allegations is crystal clear: they are the direct result of an employee-employer financial dispute that was not resolved to the employee’s satisfaction.
Stefon looks forward to establishing the truth in a court of law.”
Police records indicate that Adams believes she is still owed a month’s worth of wages.
The next court hearing in this case is scheduled for April 1, 2026.
