PlayStation’s State of Play Unveils God of War Remakes and John Wick Game, Plus More!

Santa Monica, CA – February 13, 2026 – Gamers, clear your schedules! PlayStation’s latest State of Play showcase delivered a flurry of exciting announcements, highlighted by a highly anticipated remake of the original God of War trilogy and a brand-new game based on the action-packed John Wick film series. The event, livestreamed on PlayStation’s official YouTube channel Thursday, offered a glimpse into new titles arriving in 2026 and beyond.

The grand finale of the showcase was the revelation of full remakes for 2005’s God of War, 2007’s God of War II, and 2010’s God of War III. These iconic titles, developed by PlayStation’s own Santa Monica Studio, are set to be reimagined for a new generation. Details regarding whether the remakes will be released as a collection or individually remain under wraps.

In a surprise move, Santa Monica Studio also announced and immediately released God of War: Sons of Sparta, a 2-D action platformer. This title, a collaboration with Mega Cat Studios, became available for purchase on the PlayStation Store directly after the show. Sons of Sparta delves into the early life of Kratos as he undergoes rigorous Spartan training alongside his brother Deimos.

Fans of the John Wick universe have reason to celebrate as well. Developer Saber Interactive is at the helm of a new video game adaptation, working closely with star Keanu Reeves, series director Chad Stahelski, and Lionsgate.

The game’s inaugural teaser trailer showcased Reeves’ likeness and voice, featuring John Wick executing his signature gun-fu moves. This new narrative will explore a significant period in John Wick’s life, distinct from the events of the films.

A release date for the John Wick game has not yet been announced.

The State of Play also brought thrilling news for fighting game enthusiasts. New X-Men characters are set to join the roster of the upcoming Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls.

Wolverine, Magik, and the lesser-known X-Men character Danger, the artificial intelligence of the team’s Danger Room brought to life, will be entering the fray. Developed by Arc System Works, Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is slated for release on PlayStation 5 and PC on August 6th.
