BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBMA) — More than 300 cockroaches now carry the names of exes, former flames and a few unsuspecting friends, all in the name of conservation.
The Birmingham Zoo announced that more than 300 Madagascar hissing cockroaches were named by donors from 31 states and eight countries as part of its playful 2026 Valentine’s Day fundraiser, “Name a Roach.”
The Zoo released a list of the most popular and the most unusual names the roaches were dubbed. Among the most popular were:
