St. Margaret’s Center, operated by the Center for Disability Services Holding Corporation, agreed to the settlement following an investigation by the New York Attorney General’s Office and the US Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of New York.
Investigators found that between Jan. 1, 2018, and Dec. 31, 2023, the facility falsely certified that it was meeting state and federal care standards while failing to provide adequate care, according to New York Attorney General Letitia James.
The facility was consistently understaffed and failed to properly supervise residents, including children, investigators said. One New York State Department of Health inspection found three children were not properly supervised, placing their health and safety in immediate jeopardy…
