Deadly South Roxboro Street Shooting Adds To Durham’s 24-Hour Wave Of Gunfire

Durham police report that a man was found with gunshot wounds Thursday afternoon in the 2500 block of South Roxboro Street and later died at a hospital. The incident turned a nearby housing complex into an active crime scene. Officers responded just after 3 p.m., and investigators remained on site into the evening. The victim’s name has not been released as detectives continue collecting evidence.

According to ABC11, officers arrived at about 3:11 p.m., found a man suffering from gunshot wounds and had him transported to a local hospital, where he later died. Police did not immediately release additional details and asked anyone with information to contact Investigator G. Another night of gunfire in Durham

This killing was at least the third reported shooting in Durham in roughly 24 hours. WRAL reported a late-night shooting on E. Umstead Street that left 47-year-old Tavarus Joyner dead. In a separate incident, WRAL also noted that a drive-by shooting on Rosedale Avenue wounded a 13-year-old boy. Investigators have not announced any arrests in those cases as of Thursday evening.
