NATCHITOCHES PARISH, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A Michigan man died after his freightliner was struck by another freightliner while changing his tire on Interstate 49 in Louisiana.
Louisiana State Police Troop E received reports of a crash on Interstate 49 near Mile Post 140 on Thursday, February 12, around 1:39 p.m. LSP found the driver, 25-year-old Dejuan D. Dickerson of Highland Park, MI, deceased on the scene.
The preliminary crash investigation showed that Dickerson’s 2025 Freightliner was stopped on the southbound shoulder of I-49, and he was attempting to change a flat tire on the vehicle. A 2023 Freightliner, also traveling southbound, when, for reasons still undetermined, the driver drifted onto the southbound shoulder and struck the left side of the Freightliner, causing injury to Dickerson while fixing the flat.

Dickerson’s injuries were fatal, and he was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver of the other Freightliner was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision and sustained minor injuries. LSP collected routine toxicology samples, and they were submitted for analysis. Charges for the driver of the 2025 Freightliner are pending accoriding to state police…
