Nurse awarded for being ‘true light’ to Memphis family

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A nurse at Saint Francis Healthcare won the Daisy Award for her work with a Memphis family dealing with a “terrifying experience” while a loved one was in the hospital.

Hospital leaders announced Monday that Emma Pecha was the hospital’s 4th quarter Daisy Award winner.

The family who nominated her said she helped them tremendously while their mother was dealing with cancer, chemotherapy and later diagnosed with sepsis.

The family said in part, “Emma was a true light in the darkness. From the moment Emma entered the room, Emma was calm, kind, and incredibly attentive. Emma explained everything that was happening in words we could actually understand no rush, no frustration, just genuine care, and compassion.”…
