SMYRNA, Tenn. — A 41-year-old man who was airlifted from a Smyrna hospital following a shooting in Antioch has died from his injuries, authorities confirmed. Alexander E. Sanchez-Montilla was shot shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday at a residence on Winton Drive in Antioch. He sustained gunshot wounds to both legs and was transported by a friend driving towards Smyrna while contacting emergency services.
According to investigators in Nashville, Sanchez-Montilla called 911 as he was being driven along Interstate 24 East to TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center in Rutherford County. Metro Police say that after arriving at the Smyrna medical facility, he was airlifted to TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville, where he died early Friday.
