New Castle County is temporarily pausing new hiring to fill vacant positions, except for those that are deemed critical to essential services and core operations.
County Executive Marcus Henry said Friday that the step is being taken to “manage taxpayer dollars responsibly, and position the county for long-term stability.” He added that it’s shaping up to be a challenging budget environment as preparations begin for the new fiscal year.
Henry also emphasized that there will be no effect on the job security of current county employees.
