It wasn’t that long ago that the project started at Batteries Plus off Paramount in Amarillo to demolish the building. The next step is to rebuild. The building and land were leased by Batteries Plus, but they are in the process of purchasing the land.
The Paramount Exit Problem: Why Do Accidents Keep Happening Here?
It’s been almost a year since a semi hit the building and destroyed it. Now the rebuilding is hopefully going to start soon once the land issue is taken care of. What is crazy is that the accident that happened last March caused a little damage to their neighbor, Rustic Farm.
If you don’t know about Rustic Farm, they supply metal yard art handmade by Independent Artisans. The stuff they have inside their building and out in their yard on display is pretty cool. So when they somehow missed the brunt of the accident in March, that was pretty lucky.
A Strange Case of Deja Vu: Lightning Strikes the Same Corner
What are the odds that over this past weekend, another accident occurred at the exact same location, destroying a portion of their property? Really, how does that happen? That exit off Paramount is not one that I would think would have many accidents like this.
Damage Assessment: What Happened at Rustic Farm Recently?
This accident was the result of a drunk driver who was arrested that night. The aftermath looks like they drove through the front fence, flattened some of the yard art pieces, and also hit part of their overhead coverage. They also drove through to Battery Plus, but since it was being demolished as well, it wasn’t noticeable. It did some damage at Rustic Farms, though. Same exit. Different results.
A little less than a year later, and before Battery Plus could even get back open. The good news is that even though some of the stuff has been destroyed, it doesn’t look like they have had to close. Not according to their store listing, and there is no update on their social media saying they had to. So at least there is some good news.
The Battery Plus Building is gone and the repairs have been done for Rustic Farm. Hopefully, this is where the story ends. Hopefully lightening doesn’t strike a third time in this location…
