EUGENE, Ore. – PeaceHealth’s recent round of layoffs is stirring concern within the community and among healthcare professionals. The decision impacts less than 1% of the workforce, but the Oregon Nurses Association is vocal in its disapproval.
Anne Wright, a float nurse at Sacred Heart Hospice, is among those expressing dismay.
“I think the profit over patients, it really seems like the people who are at the head of the organization are out of touch with the work that we’re actually doing in people’s homes,” Wright said. “If they were, they would not pull four frontline hospice nurses.”…
