Smiths Station fire crews working multiple scenes Friday afternoon

Smiths Station fire crews are working multiple fires Friday afternoon.

The first fire began around 1:50 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13, 2026, in the 300 block of Lee Road 238. A neighbor tells CNAW2News.com the fire began as a small area and grew in size, which led to a barn and a shed catching on fire.

Smiths Station Fire Protection District, Ladonia Volunteer Fire Department, Lee County Emergency Management Agency, EAMC Emergency Medical Services, and utility crews responded to the scene.

As crews were working to extinguish the fire, crews were dispatched to another fire, less than three miles from Lee Road 238, on Lee Road 207. The fire spread across multiple yards and is currently being extinguished by Smiths Station and Crawford fire personnel.

Prior to these fires, Smiths Station fire crews responded to a brush and fence on fire on Lee Road 240, and a fully involved house fire on Lee Road 190 in Salem.

No injuries have been reported thus far in any of the fires.

Viewers, please be aware that burning during dry conditions can quickly turn dangerous.

Before lighting a fire: avoid burning in windy conditions or during low humidity or drought, clear a safe firebreak around the fire, have water and other sources to extinguish and protect, NEVER leave a fire unattended and do NOT burn trash, tires or hazardous materials…
