An attempt by a Louisville Metro Council member to revive the issue of banning federal immigration agents from wearing masks while on the job failed to get enough support Thursday night.
The proposal from District 6 Democrat J.P. Lyninger would have made it illegal in Louisville for people to wear masks in public for the purposes of “concealing their occupation” or preventing others from identifying them “as having carried out job duties in service of their employer.” The ban would have applied to local, state and federal law enforcement, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents.
