Florida Deputies Rescue Dog Injured Trying To Escape Canal

Sheriff’s deputies in Florida over the weekend rescued a dog that was struggling to escape a canal and reunited her with her owner.

The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said Lt. Dwyer and Deputy Hart jumped into kayaks on Sunday after a dog was spotted struggling to escape a canal around Bryn Mawr Island in Bayshore Gardens.

The dog, named Indica, “cut her paws and body” trying to climb the walls of the canal, which were covered in oysters, the sheriff’s office said. Once she was safely out of the water, Animal Services personnel responded to ensure she received veterinary care…
