Iowa Appeals Court overturns murder conviction due to biased juror

DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) – The Iowa Court of Appeals has overturned the murder conviction of Duval Walker Jr., ruling that one of the jurors should have been removed from the case.

The three-judge panel issued its decision Wednesday, reversing Walker’s convictions for first-degree murder and going armed with intent in the fatal shooting of 32-year-old Cameron Barnes at a Marion bar on March 17, 2023.

Walker was convicted following a March 2024 jury trial in Linn County District Court and was sentenced to life in prison in July 2024…
