COLUMBIANA, Ala. (WIAT) — A standoff during a wellness check led to an officer being shot Saturday afternoon in Columbiana.
Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Clay Hammac said officers responded to an apartment complex on Hwy 25 near CR 47 for a wellness check when they began to take fire. One officer was grazed and suffered minor injuries. He was taken to a local hospital and has since been released.
A suspect is now in custody and ALEA has taken over the investigation…
