Bahamas citizen sentenced to two years for illegal reentry into the U.S.

TAMPA, Florida — A 26-year-old citizen of The Bahamas has been sentenced to two years in federal prison for illegal reentry by an aggravated felon.

Kenthen Lavardo Swain, who previously pled guilty on November 19, 2025, was sentenced by Senior U.S. District Judge Richard A. Lazzara, according to U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe. Swain was discovered by immigration authorities in the Manatee County Jail on or about May 26, 2025, following an arrest for battery on a law enforcement officer. Prior to this, Swain had been removed from the United States on three occasions without receiving permission to reenter.
