Sam’s Club customer allegedly punched in face after racial slur sparked argument

Columbia, S.C. (WACH) — The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is investigating an assault that happened as the result of a racial slur at a Sam’s Club store on Saturday afternoon.

Deputies were dispatched around 1:30 p.m. to the Sam’s Club located at 733 Fashion Drive for a report of an assault, according to the sheriff’s department.

Investigators said the victim told deputies she was standing in line inside the store when another woman directed a racial slur toward her. The exchange escalated into a verbal dispute between the two women…
