Suspect in Mobile County kidnapping enters plea; Choc family still missing

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — The man accused of kidnapping a family from Theodore pleaded not guilty in court Friday morning, News 5 has learned.

Juan Guerra appeared in court for his arraignment, where he entered a not-guilty plea and was appointed a public defender.

Guerra was arrested on Monday and charged with the kidnapping of Aurelia Choc, 40, and her two children, 17-year-old Niurka Zule-Ta Choc and 2-year-old Anthony Garcia Choc.

The Choc family was last seen at their home on Friday, Jan. 30. They were reported missing the next day.

Mobile County Sheriff Paul Burch said blood was found inside the home, as well as signs of a struggle. Additionally, a mattress was missing from the home, and all of the family’s personal belongings, including phones, were reportedly left behind…
