Wellington Horse Rescued from Muddy Canal by Palm Beach County Firefighters

Early Thursday morning, Palm Beach County Fire Rescue (PBCFR) leapt into action to save a horse trapped in a muddy canal. The incident occurred at approximately 8:30 a.m. near Wellington, as the distressed animal found itself submerged in mud and water up to its chest after falling down the embankment.

The horse, weighing between 800 and 1,000 pounds, was unable to free itself from the heavy sludge. In a statement obtained by CBS12, PBCFR detailed their strategic response to the situation. Firefighters carefully maneuvered to hoist the equine just enough, enabling it to climb out of the perilous canal.
