Worcester just lost its last chance to avoid paying $35M in sewage legal dispute

The state’s highest court denied Worcester’s request to review an appellate court decision ordering the city to pay Holden more than $35 million for overcharging the town for sewer services.

In August, the Appeals Court upheld a prior ruling from Superior Court Judge James Manitsas, who in 2023 ordered Worcester to pay Holden $26,525,786, plus 12% post-judgment interest for each year the judgment remains unpaid.

Assuming the city has not paid Holden, Worcester now owes the town more than $35 million…
