The Belhaven University men’s and women’s track and field teams competed Friday at the Samford Bulldog Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama, achieving several personal bests against a competitive field.
The men’s team opened with the 60-meter dash, where Leeson Taylor III led the Blazers with a time of 7.35 seconds. Julius Phillips finished in 7.38 seconds, and freshman Jaheem Cook clocked a personal-best 7.55 seconds. In the 200 meters, Taylor recorded a time of 23.56 seconds, while Cook improved with a personal-best 24.45 seconds. During the 400 meters, Kenneth Mills led the team with a time of 53 seconds flat, with senior Drew Duckworth posting a personal best of 54.15 seconds. Donovan Hurst finished in 58.66 seconds.
Field events featured Alex Reed placing seventh in the long jump with a mark of 6.16 meters (20-02.50). Jonah Moore cleared 5.57 meters (18-03.25), and Neveah Matthews jumped 5.25 meters (17-02.75)…
