Charges are pending for the driver involved in a Sunday crash on Sturgis High School grounds, according to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety. The DPS said the pickup was on a gravel road on the high school grounds when the driver lost control, and the pickup slid and rolled.

This week, the area behind the counter at The Flower Mill is overrun with red. Owner Stacy Schaap says the shop will handle nearly 8,000 roses and their thorns leading up to Valentine’s Day.

Carter Johnson, an Iowa Lake Community College freshman from Rapid City, was killed in a charter bus crash on Wednesday. Dozens of others were hurt. A wave of grief is being felt across the area.
