Woodburn leaders break ground on highly anticipated community center

Optimism was in the air Friday morning, Feb. 13, as Woodburn residents and city leaders gathered for the groundbreaking of the city’s long-awaited community center renovation.

“Today is so exciting. This has been a complete community endeavor getting it to this level,” Woodburn Mayor Frank Lonergan said. “This project right now represents a $22 million investment in our community.”

As they dug shovels into the dirt, many city leaders remarked on the soon-to-come Mill Creek Community Center’s long and winding path to realization.
