Dolores Huerta Scholarship open for Tempe Union High School District seniors

Applications are now open for the Dolores Huerta Scholarship, a $2,500 award for a Tempe Union High School District high school senior who demonstrates leadership, community organizing, civic engagement or policy advocacy.

The scholarship is sponsored by Chicanos Por La Causa and honors the legacy of Dolores Huerta, a nationally recognized civil rights activist and community organizer whose work has advanced labor rights and social justice for more than 50 years.

Huerta co-founded the United Farm Workers union with César Chávez in 1962 and is widely known for the rallying cry “Sí, Se Puede!” In 2012, she received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor…
