Bowie Man Indicted On Strangulation, Assault Charges In D.C.

WASHINGTON — A Bowie, Maryland, man has been indicted on charges that he strangled and assaulted his romantic partner during a November incident in the District, federal prosecutors announced.

Tyrell West, 30, was indicted Feb. 2, 2026, by a D.C. Superior Court grand jury on one count each of strangulation, threats to do bodily harm and simple assault, according to U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro.

According to the indictment, the alleged assault occurred Nov. 26, 2025. Prosecutors say West threatened the woman before punching her in the face and strangling her in the presence of their young child.
