Brief high-pressure ridge brings mild February calm ahead of winter storm series

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — It’s the “calm before the storm” this weekend.

Temperatures will be mild and despite the high clouds on Saturday we can still refer to this weather as being “gorgeous for February” across Kern County. It could get a bit on the breezy side from the mountains to the desert and through the Kern River Valley where this year’s Whiskey Flat Days are coming in DRY!

A very temporary ridge of high pressure will be moving into and through our region as a developing winter storm series digs into the Pacific Ocean to our west.

This developing weather pattern, which could be a potentially high-impact one for portions of our area, will be the Forecast Focus going forward since snow levels could lower significantly. Stay tuned!…
