Amarillo, Texas – Strong winds and dry air will combine to elevate wildfire danger across the Panhandle by Tuesday afternoon, with gusts up to 40 mph creating hazardous crosswinds along I-40 and US-287 before sunset.
According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, breezy to windy conditions will intensify Tuesday and Wednesday as temperatures surge into the upper 70s and lower 80s.
