A South Dallas block already too familiar with crime scene tape saw more violence last Friday, as a 21-year-old woman was killed and a man was wounded in a shooting on Elsie Faye Heggins Street, police said.
Officers responded around 10:47 p.m. to the 4600 block of Elsie Faye Heggins Street, where Dallas Fire-Rescue pronounced the woman dead at the scene. A second victim, a man, was driven to a hospital in a private vehicle while detectives spread out across the area, knocking on doors and talking with witnesses.
What Police Say
According to the Dallas Police Department, the victim was identified as 21-year-old Jackie Jernigan. The case has been logged under number 021025-2026.
