St. Louis American honors 4 Black business leaders during Black History Month

ST. LOUIS — During Black History Month, one of the region’s most respected institutions is shining a spotlight on leaders who are building history right now.

The 24th annual Salute to Excellence in Business, hosted by The St. Louis American, will honor some of St. Louis’ top corporate, entrepreneurial and nonprofit leaders later this month.

Raven Whitener, director of the St. Louis American Foundation, said this year’s honorees reflect the depth of talent shaping the region:

  • Lifetime Achiever in Business – Keith Williamson, president, Centene Charitable Foundation.
  • Entrepreneur of the Year – Eric Rhone, entrepreneur and entertainment executive.
  • Corporate Executive of the Year – Akberet Boykin-Farr, vice president of diversity and social responsibility, Emerson.
  • Nonprofit Executive of the Year – Leslie Gill, president and CEO, Rung for Women.
