Cain Velasquez released on parole

Cain Velasquez has been granted parole and released from prison.

Velasquez posted a message over the weekend stating that he is scheduled to leave prison on February 15. Footage of him being released was posted to social media on Sunday by ACD MMA:

Velasquez pleaded no contest to charges of attempted murder, felony assault, and other gun offenses in August 2024. The charges stemmed from a February 2022 incident in Santa Clara County, California, in which Velasquez was arrested following a high-speed chase. During the chase, he fired a handgun at a vehicle carrying a man he believed had sexually abused his young son. The man’s stepfather was shot in the arm and torso and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Velasquez was later sentenced to five years in prison with credit for time already served in custody and on house arrest, which made him eligible for parole in early 2026.
