HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Huntsville Utilities crews restored power to all affected customers Sunday morning following an outage caused by a hawk that contacted electrical equipment.
Power was restored to approximately 1,400 customers at 8 a.m., with service to a business at the location of the incident completed by 9:15 a.m.
The outage began around 7 a.m. when a hawk made contact across electrical equipment in the 11000 block of Memorial Parkway, near Bob Wade Lane. The incident damaged a switching arrestor and caused a substation breaker to open, cutting power to the surrounding area.
