Montgomery, Alabama – A man has been convicted of attempted murder following a shooting inside a neighborhood convenience store that prosecutors say put multiple lives at risk.
Maricas Taylor was found guilty of attempted murder and illegally possessing a firearm in connection with the 2022 shooting at the Petro Mart on Fairview Avenue. The case was prosecuted by the office of Azzie Oliver, the District Attorney for Montgomery County.
Shooting Followed Store Argument
According to evidence presented during the trial, Taylor initially entered the convenience store and became involved in an argument with the cashier. He left the location but returned approximately 30 minutes later, this time wearing a mask in what prosecutors described as an attempt to conceal his identity.
Surveillance footage shown to jurors revealed that Taylor pulled out a semi-automatic pistol equipped with an extended magazine. He approached the cashier and fired multiple shots in her direction. Despite the gunfire, the cashier was not struck…
